Scientific Name: Verbena rigida 'Polaris'
Verbena is a popular trailing annual for container gardens that blooms all summer long.
Verbena's blooms are rounded mounds of small five-petaled flowers, spaced along grayish green rigid vines with small soft leaves. It does best in full sun with well-draining soil. Vines tend to have a max height of 24" tall and long, with an 15-18" spread.
We love Verbena for it's particular hues of color-- terrific red and peach varieties, and also stunning blues and purples. And white Verbena is popular, with it's tidy, trailing snowballs of blooms. And, it attracts butterflies & hummingbirds!
PRO TIP: Removal of spend flower heads will prompt new buds to form. Cut flower stem down to the nearest fork in the stem.
