It is ideal for arbors, pergolas, trellises, and any other vertical surfaces. Blooming time is from late spring to midsummer and from late summer to fall. Clematis 'Diamantina' boasts tolerance to deer and rabbits, all the while attracting pollinators like butterflies and hummingbirds. In the garden, this plant will reach a maturity of 2-3' in width and 3-4' in height. NOTE: This clematis belongs to a group of the EARLY SUMMER & REPEAT BLOOMING varieties. This plant flowers on shoots of last year's growth in early summer. Some flower again in late summer on new growth. Prune in late winter or early spring, then prune again after the first flush of flowers. It is also possible to leave this plant unpruned, then perform a 'hard pruning' of 1-3 ft from the base of the plant every 3 to 4 years.
